Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

What is a typical class like?

  • Every class starts with a 15 minute warm up and stretching, then we work on what the instructor has planned for the day, each day is different. Most classes last about an hour. Kids aged 5-7 classes are 45 minutes, ages 8-14 is an hour, and all adult classes are an hour long. Adults advanced Jiu Jitsu is 1.5 hours.

Am I too old or out of shape to become a student?

  • Absolutely not! We work with students of all ages and varying levels of physical fitness.

Are women and girls welcome to attend classes?

  • YES! We teach the techniques and tools you can use to protect yourself against opponents larger than you. Fitness, community, and learning self defense are reasons for everyone to benefit. All are welcome.

What should I wear/bring to my first class?

  • A t-shirt and gym shorts are fine. If you have athletic clothing you wear to work out and exercise, then those will be fine. For your first class you are not expected to have all the correct gear, our coaches can provide you with a Gi to wear over your shorts and t-shirt. Also, bring your favorite water bottle for when you’re thirsty :)

Why is there a waitlist for the kids program?

  • We prioritize the quantity of training by limiting class size by number of coaches, allowing for more quality time for each student. Feel free to add your kids to the waitlist.

Can I try it out before signing up?

  • First class is free for anyone who is curious about our classes. You will not be charged anything. If you are from out of town or you have trained before then we ask for a $25 fee for dropping in.
